Happy 85th Anniversary, Cinfed!
Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley recognized June 5, 2019, as “Cinfed Credit Union Day” with an official proclamation in honor of Cinfed’s 85th anniversary. In addition to the anniversary, the proclamation acknowledged Cinfed’s longtime support of local neighborhoods and community organizations, its commitment to members and Cinfed’s ongoing success.
Originally founded in 1934 by nine federal employees as the Cincinnati Federation of Federal Employees Credit Union, Inc., Cinfed now has the largest number of members and highest total assets in its history. In addition to being one of the largest credit unions in the region, Cinfed is among the top 15% in the nation.
Cinfed expanded substantially when its charter was amended in 2013 to open membership to the community. Membership was further extended in July 2018 when eligibility was expanded to the 15-county area around Cincinnati, which includes parts of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Individuals who live, work, worship, go to school or conduct business in any of the counties are eligible for Cinfed membership.
“We’re very proud of this recognition which reflects our deep roots and commitment to our local community,” said Jay Sigler, CEO of Cinfed. “Of course, our members are the reason we’re here and our future success depends on their continued support. We also salute our employees – past and present – who have provided the service that have kept our doors open for 85 years.”
