Cinfed Sponsors 2019 Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund
Cinfed will serve as a primary sponsor for the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund this year, joining WLWT-TV and Graeter’s to support the Fund’s 80th anniversary.
Ruth Lyons was a Cincinnati media institution for decades, establishing her own radio program in the 1940s then transitioning to a daily TV show, which she hosted until her retirement in 1967. She created the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund to purchase toys for children who were hospitalized during the holidays. More than $20 million in gifts have been raised since its founding.
To raise money this year, commemorative holiday plates are being sold at Cinfed branches as well as Graeter’s retail locations across the tristate. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the plate sales go toward the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund.
In addition, Cinfed will be providing volunteers for an on-air “phone-a-thon” at WLWT-TV on Tuesday, December 10. Employees will answer calls and take donations during the morning and evening news broadcasts.
“We’re proud to partner with an outstanding organization like the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund,” said Jay Sigler, CEO of Cinfed. “It’s especially significant because we’re celebrating Cinfed’s 85th anniversary this year, and the combination of two organizations with such deep roots in the tristate makes the effort extremely meaningful.”
